Information on applying to CGCC's Nursing Program

CGCC Admissions Application for NEW CGCC students must be completed online at cgcc.edu/apply

All paperwork will be due on the Nursing Application Deadline (2025-26 School Year: March 27, 2025). Get an early start and begin preparing to submit copies of all required documents.

  • Official, unopened paper transcripts or electronic transcripts from ALL accredited colleges or universities attended must be on file at CGCC by the application deadline. 
    • Transcripts can be sent to CGCC prior to the deadline or can be included with your application. Official Transcripts can be sent through services such as Parchment or Clearinghouse. Electronic Official Transcripts can be sent to transcripts@cgcc.edu. Official (unopened) paper transcripts can be mailed to: Columbia Gorge Community College, Registrar's Office, 400 East Scenic Dr., The Dalles OR  97058.
    • An official transcript from CGCC is not required if you indicate CGCC on the application form as one of the colleges you attend. 
    • A transcript for classes taken at CGCC will be produced by Student Services and placed in your application packet. 
    • Courses completed at CGCC prior to Fall 2013 were accredited by Portland Community College and transcripts for that period must be requested from PCC.
  • Documentation of CNA, LPN, Paramedic, or EMT unencumbered license or other medical expertise (if applicable)
  • Declaration of Residency and supporting evidence. This is for applicants who reside in Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, Wasco, or Wheeler counties in Oregon and Klickitat or Skamania counties in Washington.
  • Documentation of veteran status or spouse of veteran (DD214 Member 4 copy) (if applicable)

Following the initial scoring, the top 70 applicants will be invited to participate in the next round of the admissions process, which includes a proctored essay and an HSRT exam. Please note that students will receive less than two weeks' notice if they advance to this round. The two possible exam dates will be published early on, so we recommend planning ahead.

The Proctored Essays & HSRT Exam for the 2025-26 Nursing Program Admissions Process will be held on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st, 2025. Applicants may select their preferred exam date, but please note that seating is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Online application submission will open on December 6th!

Students can pay the $50 Application Fee by logging into the CGCC Student Portal at my.cgcc.edu

Immunization Requirements

Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)

Adult dose no older than 10 years. If the dose expires before graduation date, you must get an updated shot and submit proof prior to expiration date. Td (Tetanus and Diphtheria) within the past 10 years is acceptable as long as an adult dose of Tdap was received at some point. Dtap (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis) is a children’s dose and is not accepted.

MMR (measles [rubeola], mumps, rubella)

Proof of two documented doses at last 28 days apart OR immunity by tither*. This means you must submit proof of positive tithers for each one: measles, mumps, and rubella.

Varicella (aka VZV)

Proof of two documented doses at least 28 days apart OR immunity by tither.

Hepatitis B*

Proof of three documented doses to be completed by the stated deadline. A typical injection schedule is at 0, 1, and 6 months. OR submit proof of immunity by tither. 

*Proof of the first shot in the series must be submitted when accepting admission or waitlist.

Influenza - Seasonal

This seasonal shot is only required if attending clinic/hospital-based clinicals. Submit proof of immunization OR complete a Flu Shot Declination Form.

Tuberculosis

Procedure: #1 proof of TST within one year and #2 TST now. If no proof, #1 done now and #2 done within 1-3 weeks. If you need MMR or Varicella vaccine, then TST must be timed specifically – contact health department for guidance. Alternatively, negative chest x-rays with negative symptom review or a QuantiFERON Gold test is acceptable.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Submit proof of having received the appropriate series of COVID vaccinations as detailed below OR complete a COVID Declination Form. Full series must be complete at least two weeks prior to start of clinicals. Boosters are recommended, but not required.

  • Pfizer-BioNTech: Two doses given 21 days apart. Booster shot recommended at least 6 months
    after initial series.
  • Moderna: Two doses given 28 days apart. Booster shot recommended at least 6 months after
    initial series.
  • Johnson & Johnson: One dose. Booster shot recommended at least 2 months after initial series.

Note: Depending on which program you are entering there may be other requirements. Those listed above are just the immunizations.
