CGCC Foundation Looks to Strengthen Scholarship Fund
CGCC Foundation, Board Chair
Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) Foundation appreciates your commitment to education. The foundation invites you and our community to learn about ways to further that commitment through financially supporting CGCC and its students.
The foundation scholarship budget for the 2017-18 academic year is approximately $122,000. The foundation awards fall, winter and spring scholarships to students of all ages. During the 2016-17 academic year, CGCC Foundation awarded scholarships to 72 students, totaling more than $136,000.
In addition, the foundation provides funds for other purposes such as: need-based student emergency grants, need-based GED testing fees grants, faculty and staff professional development, and the purchase of special equipment for the nursing and electro-mechanical technology programs. The foundation is also increasing its permanent endowment for long-term sustainability in support of CGCC and its students.
This coming year, the foundation board will focus efforts on raising funds through a variety of fundraisers, such as the 19th annual golf tournament, country western dance/live auction, and bike tour. Details for these special events will be announced on the college and foundation websites in February 2018.
CGCC is the only accredited postsecondary institution physically located within the five counties of the Mid-Columbia region. When you support CGCC Foundation, you support CGCC students, faculty and staff, and our community. Affordable, quality education and workforce training directly contribute to the quality of life in the Columbia Gorge area.
As the New Year arrives, I ask that you include Columbia Gorge Community College Foundation in your giving plans. Your contributions, large or small, truly help make a difference. You may donate online.
Thank you for your support!.
