Lisa AbuAssaly George (she/they) serves as the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, bringing more than 25 years of experience in higher education. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside students, faculty, and staff in various capacities, including as a Sociology instructor. Lisa has dedicated her professional journey to championing equity and antiracism, focusing on key areas such as faculty and professional development, student development, Title IX, human resources, OERs, and instructional leadership, all with a commitment to fostering inclusive environments.

Lisa is also the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the Oregon Community College Association and actively participates in local groups that focus on various social justice initiatives.

With a strong foundation in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and Educational Systems and Leadership, Lisa combines academic expertise with her personal experience in advocating for change in systems that impact marginalized communities. This unique blend of knowledge and lived experience drives her ongoing commitment to advancing equity and inclusion for those who have historically been excluded in educational systems.

Lisa loves her work, her family, her bicycles, all kinds of music, and her formerly (and sometimes currently) feral cat.
