Background

Andrea has been an instructor at Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) since 2008 and currently teaches in the Writing, Literature & Foreign Language and Computer Applications and Office Systems Department.

The teaching bug first bit her several years ago while working in Training and Development in the restaurant industry. Coupled with her love of literature and writing, she had a recipe for a career that she could be passionate about. In 2004, she left the restaurant business to pursue her education. In 2008 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Oregon University, followed by a Master of Arts in English from Morehead State University in Kentucky. She also earned an Associate of General Studies from Mount Hood Community College where she studied horticulture.

Over the past couple of years, she has enjoyed working with her students in the Office Systems courses and looks forward to demystifying the writing process with future writing students.

In her spare time, she enjoys pursuing outdoor adventures--hiking, kayaking, gardening-- and is usually in the midst of reading at least three or four books at a time. She currently lives in Spokane, Washington.
