Course Description

Examines search engine basics, on and off-site optimization and analytics. Develops skills and techniques for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Introduces Search Engine Optimization strategy and research techniques to stay current on industry SEO standards. Recommended WT 101. Audit available.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Create a tailored SEO plan for a new or existing website following current professional and/or industry standards including usability and accessibility.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of SEO techniques for increasing and maintaining high search engine rankings.
  3. Employ research techniques to maintain knowledge of industry SEO standards.

Suggested Outcome Assessment Strategies

The determination of assessment strategies is generally left to the discretion of the instructor. Here are some strategies that you might consider when designing your course: writings (journals, self-reflections, pre writing exercises, essays), quizzes, tests, midterm and final exams, group projects, presentations (in person, videos, etc), self-assessments, experimentations, lab reports, peer critiques, responses (to texts, podcasts, videos, films, etc), student generated questions, Escape Room, interviews, and/or portfolios.
