Join our Cross Country teams!

CGCC Chinooks Cross Country off and running Fall 2024!

CGCC is proud to announce its official acceptance into the Northwest Athletics Conference (NWAC) with the launch of its first sports teams, Men's & Women's Cross Country, entering the conference in the Fall of 2024.

Preparations for an athletic program have been underway for a few years, but the final sprint was initiated when the college welcomed its first coach, Peggi Casady, to lead the teams!

Coach Casady has over 12 years experience in fitness, coaching, wellness, and teaching physical education. Her comprehensive understanding of athletic training, injury prevention, and personal development makes her a valuable foundational member of our athletics department.

Coach Casady's training philosophy emphasizes building endurance, strength, and mental resilience. She is dedicated to not only improving the physical conditioning of her athletes but also fostering a supportive team culture. Her ultimate goal is to lead CGCC’s student-athletes to achieve their personal bests while instilling a lifelong love for running.

This fall presents a unique opportunity for students to be a part of CGCC's inaugural cross country team. Full-time students who participate in the cross country program will receive a waiver for up to 25% of their tuition. Cross Country is a fall sport, and the team will travel to other NWAC member colleges for away meets (CGCC covers the cost of team travel). Member schools are located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia Canada.

Important: Students who want to join the team need to be registered for fall term before September 3rd to be eligible.
Fill out this survey if you're interested in joining, and talk to an advisor to make sure you're registered.

As the Chinooks cross-country teams gear up to make their mark in the NWAC, we extend an open invitation to join this exciting journey, to support our athletes, and build a legacy of learning, inclusivity, and community pride.
